Think Different! Take your Mac to the eXtreme!

Welcome to Mac On Steroids!

This web site was inspired by a single web page that I’ve made way back in 2007 on upgrading my iMac aluminum (2007) with 1 TB hard drive and 4GB RAM (one of the very first and original iMac disassembly and hard drive upgrade guides). Since then the web page had over 500,000 unique visitors and several hundred reader comments – getting out of the scope of the original upgrade and venturing into other iMac mods — all of which was inspiration to me to start this blog and share with you all the Apple gear mods-upgrades-hacks I’ve made within the past several years – and there is a quite of few of them :)

Let’s just name some of the coolest ones – upgrading iMac alu 2007, 2008 and 2009 to 1/1.5 and 2.0 TB hard drive, upgrading CPU and graphics cards in iMac alu 2007, 2008, upgrading Apple TV to 500 GB SATA hard drive, replacing a broken to shreds digitizer display on iPhone 3G, ripping a 160 GB 1.8″ hard drive from an iPod classic and upgrading MacBook Air with it… and some of the more ordinary ones such are – replacing a hard drive in iMac white, repairing optical drives in iMac white and iMac aluminum, repairing iPhone 2G LCD screen, upgrading Apple TV with 500GB SATA hard drive, installing third party software on my ATV, installing OS X Tiger 10.4.11 on ATV (and making a mini torrent server out of it), upgrading MacBook and MacBook Pro aluminum with 500 GB hard drive, configuring (3rd party) network hard drive to work with Time Machine, extending the range of Airport Extreme, building a 4 TB AFP network gigabyte ethernet raid storage array… and the list goes on…

Time permitting I will update this web site with the above named content… In the mean time, please let me know how would you like to see this web site grow and make suggestions for any other (cool) things you’d like me to do with your favorite Mac gear?

Matt, iMac white cannot be upgraded with a new video card, only new aluminum iMacs.
